What bait should I use?
-Rats prefer peanut butter, grains, meats, and some fruits
Where should I put rat traps?
-Traps should be placed and set on a flat surface, where the rats usually go. Look for signs of nesting, gnawing, and droppings.
Why are my traps not catching any rats?
-Rats are fearful of new things, they may avoid a new trap set in their path. If they happen to set off a trap without getting caught, they may be spooked by the trap and will not return to it. To help prevent this you can place unset, baited traps first. Then, when the rats get used to them being there, put bait in the traps and set the triggers.
1. Don't use poison as bait. It will not make traps more effective.
2. Reuse rat traps. The scent left by a rat caught in a trap can attract others to it.
3. Be patient. Rats may not approach a trap for several days after it is placed. As long as the bait is properly positioned in the trap, you can leave the trap with the same bait for days.
4. Human scent on traps can repel rats. Wear gloves when handling traps.
5. Set single traps in more than one location. Don't place traps where children or pets may come in contact with them.
6. To ensure effectiveness, make sure to use baits that attract the type of rat infesting your area. If possible, set the traps close to their colony or where the rats usually goes through.
